The Future of The Van
Noticing the advancements of humanistic artificial intelligence and acknowledging that the Genome Project was completed eighteen years ago, this project speculated a future with a biological drive-by-wire, where your vehicle is a part of yourself. From subtle everyday conversation and bio-mechanic anatomy to critical events, the films we produced investigate moments of tension and the wavering agency of the driver.
The final film depicted a worsening tension growing between a driver and a biological drive-by-wire. The driver begins to ignore their vehicle, culminating in a crash, after which the car can no longer communicate and must be scrapped. The loss of the car is mourned.
Work done in collaboration with Olivia Mackrill and Lucy Faherty.
